Beans, Peas & Pumpkins!!

Take a look at this enthusiastic bunch of gardeners!!

Remember them well.

In a few short months they are going to have saved you loadsa money!!!

They are planting all the beans, peas, tomatoes, courgettes & pumpkins that are going into the grow bags along the Leabank.

Soon you will be able to put the chicken in the oven - nip down to the Leabank and cut off some beans, snip a few tomatoes, chop off a couple of pumpkins - and there you have it - your meal is complete.

Please will you then seek out these faces & thank them gratefully!!

It's That Time of the Year Again!!

Uh Ohhhh..........

There I was - pushing the old wheelbarrow around Leabank Square - minding my own business........

......... when - all of a sudden this thunderstorm broke directly above my head!!!

Or.....

Actually! The Water Fight Season has started again!!!!

Yes - that's right folks - you heard it here first.

From now till the end of summer you have to spin your head 360 degrees all round you - not to get a bucket of water dumped on your head.

Of course - it's actually lovely to be cooled off by the water on these amazingly hot days - but these Water Fighters work in all weather.

So be on the lookout!!

Hi

Please see the flyer attached – seems like a good way to lobby Mosaic for some better management in Leabank Square!

Want to get on board?

Christine

This flyer was just sent to me from Councillor Christine Boyd (an extremely useful person to know - check out: http://www.hackney.gov.uk/w-wards-list.htm) about the Mosaic Big Bus coming to Leabank Square on Wednesday 14th May between 10am & 12pm.

Please - even if you are not in one of the Mosaic properties - see if you can take the morning off to come & chat to them about anything in the square.

We all share this beautiful Square - so let's all start getting the people we pay to do something more with our money!!

More Amazing Gardeners!!

The two round flower beds at the side gates to the green were lovingly attended by some more amazing gardeners last week!!

They dress like twins - and we're all convinced they're (un-identical) twins - but they're just best mates.

But WOW! - can they plant?!

They planted both large containers with Busy Lizzies in record time!!

Thanks a lot - within a few short weeks they'll be so colourful - you'll have to wear shades to check them out.

Speedy Rowena

Did you know that Leabank Square has its very own Olympic Hopeful?!

I was talking to Kier - the amazing guy who runs the Hype! Bus that comes to Leabank Square every Saturday afternoon.

Not only does he manage the computer, internet & multi-media bus unit - but he is also in the process of setting up an incredible cycling club right here in Hackney (see: http://cyclingclubhackney.blogspot.com/)

Aaaaaaanyway - he has found a very unique talent in Rowena - the fastest person in Leabank Square!!

You might have seen her training around the square - but she's so fast - she would have been a blur.

Last week she entered the invitation 2008 Whitewebbs CC Time Trial for youths and beginners in Finsbury Park - and Kier said she did amazingly well!!

So well done Rowena! Leabank Square is very proud of you - and we want you to keep at it. We want you to represent Hackney Wick at the 2012 Olympics around the corner - and win gold!!!!

Leabank Henge

Thanks to our friends at Hackney Marsh Users Group (http://www.london21.org/page/85/show/10032) we have got some beautiful tree stumps for Leabank Square.

We have put them in the middle of the square for everyone to use to sit, have a cuppa & a ponder.

But please feel free to suggest any alternative uses for them. If anyone is a sculptor in the square - maybe we can have some art dotted all around, if anyone knows where to get one of those huge wooden cable rollers - maybe we can make a picnic area, Lisa suggested we leave them where they are & have some jam sessions in the middle of the square!

Anyhow - please all go for a sit down & soak up the great atmosphere of Leabank Square - and then come & tell us all about it in the comment section!

Check this amazing team of painters out!!!

I know that some of them arrived back home covered in paint (sorry!!) - but you have to agree that it is worth it.

Our brand new sign looks magnificent!

Every rambler, jogger, walker, canoeist, Olympic worker, boat captain, police person, rower & cyclist going past Leabank Square on the canalside - will now be amazed at our beautiful new sign!

Thanks crew - you're the best!!!

Cute!!!!

Is this not just the cutest gardener in Leabank Square?!

Strawberry Staircase Forever

In just a few short weeks - there will be delicious strawberries cascading from the southside spiral staircase of the centre block!!

Please feel free to help yourself whenever you see them.

Oh....... and watch out for the scrumptious tomatoes coming all along the canal soon!
