Our friends at East London Business Alliance are offering anyone in any of the various Leabank Square residential associations - an amazing 2 day course with Barclays Bank. Some of us have met Emrana Akthar a few times - and have been extremely impressed with her commitment to helping make Leabank Square a better place to live in for everyone.
She wants to help us manage our square in a more cohesive and collaborative way. She is trying to get anyone interested - to attend these kinds of courses - for free!!!!
This one is called a Capacity Building Workshop. This means something like getting the most possible out of your organisation. The workshop topics are as follows:
Fundraising strategy & approaching funders
Writing a communications plan
Business planning
Financial management
Human resources strategies

Barclays Group are offering free capacity building workshops for any community organisations and Emrana is looking for people to sign up. They will be held on Wed 28th and Thurs 29th October 2009 at Barclays offices in Canary Wharf.
They have up to 15 spaces on each course and they will be offered on a first come first served basis.
I have personally attended this course before, and know just how valuable it is - and also know how many thousands of pounds it costs to run one of these 2 day courses. I urge you to see if you can take a couple of days off work in order to attend these days. Who knows, maybe your boss will see you in a much more positive light if s/he knows you can now build capacity!!
If you or any of your crew are interested - please let her colleague Catherine Buglass know your top three topic choices, in order of preference. Emailing on Catherine.Buglass@elba-1.org.uk
This course will be absolutely invaluable to you personally - but also the Leabank Square in the long run - please see if you can make it!
